ROCK MESSIAH

With the song title of one of the very first Helmet songs as a nick name, I throw together the one or other song. Thus being a one-man thing so far, and having a voice with few capacities, these songs are all instrumental. If someone would like to sing over them or help me out with other instruments, I'd be glad, just contact me.

I see myself rather like a songwriter than an instrument player but I hope to acquire more skills on sound in the future. My music is mainly inspired by the early 90s sound of bands like Helmet and Clutch. That means riff- and structure-focused rock without any unnecessary additions, just stripped to the bone. Yet, there are no guitar solos and complex guitar effects which I'd love to include aswell, but that simply isn't that easy cause all my music is done per computer.

Naive (demo)

Has got some distortion, so it's only a demo. You gotta find some rockin' drive in it none the less.

555

The title of this song has no special meaning, I just wrote it on the 05/05/05. I experimented a little with bass sounds on this one, that possibly turned out a little loud in the final mix, but the song is very enjoyable though, I think. It's a little more based on atmosphere and quieter parts than my previous songs. I spend a lot of time on the drums too, now they almost sound like they would have been played by the legendary Stanier himself.

Perfection

A rhythm guitar song like a rhythm guitar song should be. It should express the long hard way to having something made the best that it can be, aka perfection. Hence the rather pressed riffs that alternate with a little more free, forward going riffs, which show the components of work and creativity together with some sort of fresh air here and there, that eventually lead to the released feeling of having accomplished what you wanted to, which shows in the last, more positive sounding riff.

Blue Flame

This one is like a hammer. Drums and chords right in the face. I didn't call it hammer though, cause when I arranged this song, I missed to bid on an auction on ebay and so couldn't get the blue Camaro with flames I longed for (die-cast, not a real one, hehe). That's also the reason for the rather unspectacular last moments in the song, that symbolize the disappointment.

Half Deaf II (additional guitar by Jon aka Smutkid22 from the Helmet forum)

A rather early song of mine, inspired by the thrilling "Smart" from Helmet's new album. Repetition is the right word in this context, as the basic riff of this song seems to be played a million times... . Thanks to Jon for jamming a little over it, btw!
